| Collection Description | "The American Air Museum stands as a memorial to the 30,000 Americans who died flying from the UK in the Second World War…This outstanding example of contemporary British architecture houses Duxford's unique collection of historic American combat aircraft including the B-17 Flying Fortress,with many suspended from the ceiling as if in flight. Designed by Lord Foster,the award-winning building has as its centerpiece the mighty B-52 Stratofortress. An excellent collection of Cold War aircraft including the F-111,A-10 'Tankbuster' and U-2 spyplane are complemented by fascinating artefacts including a section of the Berlin Wall,a cruise missile and part of the infamous Iraqi 'supergun'.
