"The library is available for research to members of the public but an appointment should be made in advance. Use of the library is free of charge if the museum is not to be visited. Books are not loaned except to staff and Friends who live in the Bath area.
Holdings
The library contains about 10,500 volumes as well as back files of periodicals. The main fields covered are American history and decorative arts,which include folk art,textiles (quilts),furniture and pottery. Reflecting the museum’s collections its time-scale runs from the first European exploration of North America up to just before the Civil War,although publications about the twentieth century are also held. Other subjects covered are Native Americans,maps of the Age of Discovery,American horticulture and cooking,and religious groups such as the Shakers and the Amish of Pennsylvania."
